“While there, there were young guys whose hair has turned gray. Just imagine it, when they started firing at us. There got the range there and in Dukla there was such a narrow road there, and we had to take it, otherwise we wouldn’t have got there. And they got the range on that road.”

  • born October 23, 1921 in Hlinsk in Volhynia
  • March 15, 1944 joined the 1st Czechoslovak army corps in Rovno
  • assigned to the mixed reconnaissance section of the 1st Czechoslovak independent brigade
  • went through the Dukla Pass
  • after the war became a member of the army group Žatec
  • was assigned a farm in Německá Libina (present-day Libina)
  • at present living in Libina
