Láska a možnost svobodně ji vyjádřit vždy patřily mezi fundamentální lidské potřeby, bez kterých si málokdo dokáže představit smysluplný a šťastný život.
Přesto se dodnes setkáváme s tím, že lidé menšinové sexuální orientace jsou v naší společnosti vnímáni jako cizí element, který v našich dějinách nemá své místo. Když někteří tvrdí, že homosexualita a LGBT jsou trendy, které „přišly ze Západu“, není se čemu divit – naše učebnice dějepisu na tuto část historie úplně zapomněly.
Jakým překážkám v minulosti čelili muži, kteří milovali muže, a ženy, které milovaly ženy? Našli svou životní lásku v dobách, kdy společnost potírala jejich lidskou přirozenost? Kdo byli první lidé v Československu a Maďarsku, kteří se rozhodli vést etický boj za vlastní důstojnost a právo na sebeurčení?
Tato výstava odhaluje neznámé příběhy zakázané lásky v průběhu posledních sta let na našem území, které k nám s razancí a aktuálností promlouvají i dnes.

Love and the ability to express it freely always belonged to the fundamental human needs without which most of us can imagine a meaningful and happy life.
Nevertheless, we still find that people of minority sexual orientation are perceived in our society as a foreign element that has no place in our history. When some argue that homosexuality and LGBT are trends that „came from the West,“ it’s no wonder – our history textbooks have completely forgotten this part of history.
What obstacles had to face men who loved men and women who loved women? Did they find the love of their lives at a time when society was fighting their human nature? Who were the first persons in Czechoslovakia and Hungary to decide to fight ethically for their own dignity and the right to self-determination?
This exhibition reveals unknown stories of forbidden love during the last hundred years in our territory, which speak to us with the intention and timeliness even today.
